Tommy practices in the area of general civil litigation with an emphasis on professional liability cases, class actions and business and commercial disputes.

As a name partner in Tucker Long, Tommy Tucker has been with the firm since 1974 and brings impressive legal credentials to the firm.

An active trial lawyer since 1974, Thomas Tucker was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1991.  He has been listed in the “Best Lawyers in America” since 1995 and has been named as one of Georgia’s Super Lawyers® since 2004. Mr. Tucker has also distinguished himself by being named to Georgia Trend’s Legal Elite in the General Practice/Trial Law section since 2010.   He has received an AV® peer review rating in Martindale Hubbell, the highest possible ranking given in both legal ability and ethical standards.

Mr. Tucker is past president of the Augusta Bar Association, and is a member and Chairman Emeritus of the Lawyers Advisory Committee for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia.

Having graduated cum laude in 1969 from Emory University with a B.A. degree, Tommy Tucker received his Juris Doctorate cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1974. In law school, Mr. Tucker was a member of the editorial board of the Georgia Law Review and the student editorial board of the Georgia State Bar Journal.  Prior to entering law school, Mr. Tucker served two years in the United States Army.

Tommy Tucker is adept at representing clients at both the trial and appellate levels.  He has argued numerous appeals in the state appellate courts of Georgia, as well as in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits. He has the distinction of having one case before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Tucker represents clients in matters before federal or state courts involving: civil litigation including professional, products and premises liability; personal injuries; banking; commercial; and general business matters. A substantial portion of Mr. Tucker’s time is devoted to representing both plaintiffs and defendants in class actions.

Tommy Tucker and his wife, Betty, are the parents of two children, Jennifer E. Tucker M.D. and T. Daniel Tucker, J.D.
