Of Counsel
Named a Georgia Super Lawyer® in 2007, A. Montague (“Mont”) Miller practices full time in the area of general civil litigation. He serves as “of counsel” to the law firm which he co-founded in 1971. He has received an AV® peer review rating in Martindale Hubbell, the highest possible ranking given in both legal ability and ethical standards.
In May 2001, Mont retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of Club Car, Inc. in Augusta, Georgia, the leading manufacturer of golf cars and utility vehicles. He also served as Senior Vice President, President, and Chief Operating Officer until his promotion to CEO in 1995.
Mont was a director of Georgia-Carolina Bancshares, Inc. and First Bank of Georgia, serving as past Chairman of the Board of Directors at First Bank. He is also President of Bartram Trail CDC, Inc., a Community Development Corporation formed by the County Commissioners of Columbia County, Georgia, to develop a public golf course for the citizens of Columbia County.
From 1971 to 1990, He was a partner in the law firm of Dye, Miller, Tucker & Everitt, and its predecessors. He is a member of the Augusta Bar Association, serving as its President in 1985; the State Bar of Georgia, where he served as a member of the Board of Governors for several terms; The Defense Research Institute; and the International Association of Defense Counsel.
Mr. Miller was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1984. He has participated in over 500 civil jury trials and 60 appeals, including appearing before the United States Supreme Court. He has also served as a mediator and Special Master in state and federal courts. He is also an experienced arbitrator.
Mont Miller is a native of Augusta, Georgia, and holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Georgia and a Juris Doctorate for the University of Georgia School of Law. He is a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church.
He is married to the former Peggy Mays of Folkston, GA, and has two grown sons, William Miller and Stephen Miller.
