JOHN B. LONG
John B. "Jack" Long practices in the area of general civil litigation with an emphasis on class action litigation, bankruptcy and domestic relations disputes.
Mr. Long has been a trial lawyer since 1971 and has represented clients at the trial court level in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, and has argued numerous appeals in the appellate courts of Georgia, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits.
Mr. Long is a proponent of providing equal justice for all. He has served as the Augusta Bar Association's representative on the Board of Georgia Legal Services for the past eight years. He has served on the Georgia State Bar's Access to Justice Committee. He is currently Chairman of the Augusta Judicial Circuit Indigent Defense Committee. He was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court to serve on the Augusta Judicial Circuit Public Defender Selection Panel and has testified before the Georgia Supreme Court on Indigent Defense.
Mr. Long earned his BA degree from Virginia Military Institute in 1968, and his JD degree from The University of Georgia School of Law in 1971. He was commissioned in 1968 in the United States Army and retired as a Field Artillery Captain.
He and his wife, Benita, are the parents of two children.
