BENJAMIN H. BREWTON

Ben Brewton concentrates his law practice in the area of general civil litigation and specializes in the representation of doctors, nurses, medical practices and hospitals in claims involving litigated medical issues.

Mr. Brewton has been a trial lawyer actively involved in the trial of civil cases for the past 18 years. He has represented clients in trials in Federal and State Courts involving: medical liability, premises liability, personal injuries, insurance coverage disputes and felony criminal cases. He has represented clients and argued appeals before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Georgia and Georgia Court of Appeals.

Mr. Brewton is a past president of both the Augusta Bar Association and the Younger Lawyers Club of Augusta. He is also active in the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association having served on both the legislative and professional liability committees of that organization. He also currently serves as an invited member of the United States Southern District Court Advisory Committee and in 2004 was appointed by the President of the State Bar of Georgia to serve on the legislatively created Code Revision Commission, which is responsible for overseeing the accuracy, style and dissemination of all of Georgia’s published statutes. He has also served as an invited speaker and faculty member at legal seminars concerning medical negligence litigation.

Mr. Brewton began his college education at Oxford College of Emory University where he received an AA degree in 1983. He completed his college education at Emory University in Atlanta where he received a BA in 1985. His legal education was obtained at the University of Georgia School of Law where he obtained a JD degree in 1988. Mr. Brewton was active in the moot court program at the University of Georgia School of Law and was a member of the Intrastate Champion Moot Court Team in 1987 and was the coach of the Intrastate Champion Moot Court Team in 1988. As a result of his involvement in the moot court program he was selected for and is a member of the Order of Barristers.

Mr. Brewton and his wife of 16 years, Heidi, are active in the community and in their church. They have two children, Ann Louisa and Benjamin.
